Cup of Joe never tasted so good!
I'm suppose to be working but need a little break!

This weekend went by so quickly! Friday night was the Simpsons movie. I loved it! The writers had such wit that tears were pouring down my face for the whole time and my side hurt at the end from laughing so hard. Didn't get home until late and the next day had to be up early for No Reservations.

It was good, but I wouldn't say great. Alot of elements made it a fun view but overall it was too long. Although Abigail is still so cute and you just want to give her a hug during a lot of the scenes. Then off to Deuce.

Second time seeing the Broadway show but I heard that this production will be Lansbury last bout on the stage and had to see her at least one more time. Truly she's a sight to see as she's able to take a script or more specifically lack of a standard story line and run with it. She's a remarkable actress and speaking of remarkable I saw Gypsy last night with Patti Lupone.

The closing night lived up to the hype and there was a 20 minute curtain call. We were clapping so hard my arms still hurt afterwards. The part was tailor made for Lupone's talents. She had the right combination of sauciness and tenderness. Her Mama Rose brought the house down....

So now, I'm working on my second cup of coffee and looking at my computer clock begging for hands to turn.

Monday again and I'm back at work. I thought last week was busy with the shows, and events but this week is already turning into one as well.

Tonight we're going to an advance screening of Hairspray. Now, I wasn't sure about it when I first saw the preview but you can't go wrong with free. It seems like all Broadway shows are turning into movies and vice versa. Whatever happened to a movie staying a movie and the same with theatre? I swear, I sometimes don't think there's creativity anymore.

Wednesday I scored free tickets at BB Kings. I love that venue. It's intimate and the performers are really allowed to talk with their fans and it's a very different experience than let say Madison Square Garden.

Friday at midnight I'm getting in line for my Harry Potter book and then bright and early I have to go back into the city for S and I to see Arctic Tale at 10 am. Ok, you better be really good because I won't be getting home until 3 the morning the night before.

Then I'm off to a wedding that evening. I can't believe it M, you're getting married. I remember when you excitedly emailed all of us about the engagement, and now the big day is almost here! Can't wait to see you, it's been way too long! Then you'll be off on your honeymoon; just think it's almost here!

Shout out to Katie, who just had her first baby, Holly Rae. I can't believe my friends are going off and getting married and having kids. I can't believe the time has gone by so fast.

So off on yet another busy week, who knows what else is to come. It is only Monday

Sex and the City, the movie?
See the notice below. I hope they do a good job with it, or it could be a disaster. However, they are all on board!

Tony Winner Nixon Will Join Parker, Cattrall and Davis for "Sex and the City" Film
    By Andrew Gans
    05 Jul 2007

After several years of negotiations, the hit HBO series "Sex and the City" is finally heading to the silver screen.

Variety reports that New Line Cinema and HBO will produce a "Sex and the City" motion picture, which will star its four original leading ladies: Tony Award winner Cynthia Nixon, Emmy winner Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Kim Cattrall. Michael Patrick King, the series' longtime executive producer, will pen the script and direct. King's co-producers will include actress Parker, John Melfi and Darren Star.

Actress Cattrall, who was seen on the London stage last fall in the Donmar Warehouse's revival of David Mamet’s The Cryptogram, had reportedly been holding out for a better deal when negotiations began two years ago. The industry paper says the actress is content with her current deal, which includes a large salary, input on her movie scenes as well as a future series deal with the HBO cable network.

"Sex and the City" will likely begin shooting this fall. New Line will distribute the motion picture.

"Sex and the City" ran on the HBO network from 1998-2004. The series was based on the autobiographical columns penned by Candace Bushnell.

    It's Friday!
So much stuff going on this weekend! First of all congrats M on starting your new job this week. I hope it’s everything and more than you’re expecting.

And speaking of expecting, I got the word yesterday that my good friend from college is 2 centimeters into her delivery. I can’t believe she’s going to be a mom and that this year it’s going to be seven years since college ended. She’s so happy and is the first of my friends to have a baby. What’s next?

Tonight, I’m going to see Ratatouille. Ever since the preview during Shrek the Third, my friends and I have been waiting to see it. Not as much as Harry Potter, as I already have my midnight pass for July 10th, but up there. It’s gotten such great reviews.

Saturday and Sunday are busy as well. I have a date on Saturday and then two musicals over the weekend. Keeping busy and staying out of trouble.

I’m trying the Zone Meals, or as of July 1, Chef Diets. The food is sooooo good. They give you restaurant gourmet styled food, that is portion controlled. You even have two snacks throughout the day that you wouldn’t normally think of as snacks. So, I’m trying it for a month. A very expensive month..as it’s $40 dollars a day, I feel like Rachel Ray in that aspect but it’s a better deal.

I’m trying to get in better shape for me and for my trip in September. I can’t wait and I’m trying to learn Italian before I go. Well, back to work I go, I’m so glad it’s Friday!

What an amazing night at Madison Square Garden...
When a rocker from the past is able to make a comeback and be as good or even better than they were 20 years ago. Last night Madison lit up for Bob Seger. All of us in the audience were standing up and cheering to that "Old Rock and Roll"

M & I went to the concert where Seger ended up playing his greatest hits and many tracks from his new album for almost 2 hours.

Coffee is a girl's best friend this morning to wake up and to fight that frigid weather out there.

    Happy Friday!

    Updates
I haven't been in blogging mode as of late but a few things have happened...

Some updates: I just booked a trip for October trip to Italy. Going to Rome, Florence, Pisa, Island of Capri, Tuscany, Venice, and Sorrento. I'm so excited! I've always wanted to go, so even though it will be a little while, I can't wait.

On another note, my grandma is back in the hospital. She had to be rushed there tonight as she was having violent seizures. Once admitted, a few hours later had another one. I'm glad I got to see her for Thanksgiving. This year I hosted and I got to hug her and tell her how much I love her. She looked at me and said "I love you more". I'm really worried about her, so if anybody could send up a few prayers for her after reading this I would really appreciate it.

    Take care everyone,
    Amy

    Opening Night
Last night was a first for me! I attended opening night of Lousing Louie. There were no red carpets but it was a magical experience. Ever since I was a little girl I've dreamed of going to a Broadway opening and last night I got my chance!

The humorous story is filled with quirky moments and the staging is well done. Go see it if you get a chance.

It's been a lot of shows these past few weeks: Chorus Line, Martin Short, Times They Are a Changin', Jay Johnson, and countless others!

Except for the breast cancer walk this weekend, I'm laying low and need a few days off.

Harry Potter, Stephen King and John Irving
Tonight was amazing. I went to the authors' event at Radio City. The authors: King, Irving and Rowling were funny and told stories about their lives.

No matter how the audience tried we could not convince Rowling to tell us about Book 7. All that she revealed is that Dumbledore is staying dead (I'm convinced that he's going to pull a T. Riddle or a J. Potter and come back in spirit to help Harry)

That she had the ending to book seven written since 1999 and that someone significant is going to die. Thought: what if Harry dies to complete the circle? His mother and father died to save Harry, Harry dying to defeat he, who most not be named?

Plus there's suppose to be more to Harry's aunt than meets the eye.

We shall see as the countdown continues!

    Times they are a Changin'
Why does it seem when you make one little change...things...begin...to unravel.. until you're gripping at straws.

Now I'm packing up all my stuff, and believe me after almost two years at a place, I have a lot more than when I moved around every year. I am quite proud that I'm getting rid of most of my taped movies. I have so many and I decided it's not worth paying the movers to move them and I can start again if I want to.

Books are still the problem, after publishing I have shelves hopelessly double stacked. Good news, they are finally all packed up, it feels like such a huge accomplishment. But the problems have been back and forth with the movers(price quotes 35 times), new internet provider, keys to the new place, unforeseen costs raring their ugly heads, hundreds of dollars more in rent for the new place, and now the medical bills are coming in from my accident. What's a girl to do? Where's the liquor and keep it coming!!!

We had to move my grandma into a home but she's so social that I think it might be the best thing. They have field trips and she's already making friends. So I'm very happy for her and my family thinks that she's come a long way.

Other news I'm trying Nutrisystem to cut down on those calories and also to save money. I feel like I spend so much on food, that having one cost for the month with additions of course I feel like I can save some more money...plus that pesky reunion is sneaky up.
I'm excited but most of my classmates are married and have quite a few kids already which is daunting. Plus this program is a lot cheaper than the Zone, I can't believe I ever thought I could afford that.

At work today we were told we're having mice problems and we shouldn't leave out any food. And what day does my first nutrisystem order come...you got it. I decided to clean out my file drawer and I have five weeks of food in 2 file cabinet drawers. Then I bring home boxes on the subway. If you haven't, DON'T..even if you wait until 6 thinking that the cars would somehow be emptier(there not). I get home and after bringing up the boxes and throwing a few bags of garbage out I jump in the shower. I start to take the last bag out and I hear squeaking. I look down and there's a mouse in a trap. So after taking it outside, it was time to relax.

As you can see there's a lot on my plate right now. I haven't been hanging out with some of you lately and that will change after the move. I've been hanging low to save and also a lot to do.

    Till then,

It's been so crazy lately, I haven't even had time to write. Between my grandma, Mr. M, life, concerts, events, parties, dates, shows, and now it looks like I'll be moving, it's been and continues to be a whirlwind.

It's still been touch and go with my grandma for awhile. She's on the mend and we're hoping she keeps getting better. She's along way since the two strokes! My grandma and I have always had a special relationship and we've had a private joke between us, that we say I love you MORE (and it keeps going, back and forth until one of us hangs up). I've always been close to her and this has been a really trying time! For the first time last week she initiated the I love you More and it literally stopped me in my tracks and I started to cry! I never thought I would hear those words from her again. Since then she's been making remarkable progress but still very confused. She's being kicked out of her next (3rd one because of medical, you got to love insurance, I'm still paying all the hospital bills from my injuries) facility this weekend and she can't go to her new apartment (because we found out today, she won't ever be able to live on her own again, which I don't believe or at least am in denial) and my parents both work. If she can't be on her own, we're not sure next of the options. I've already offered to help pay for her up keep.

I have another date coming up this week with Mr. M and I'm looking forward to that! That and shows and S's get together on Saturday at the Beer Garden...etc made for a great weekend! By the way, Macbeth is wonderful in Central Park, second performance of Shakespeare I've seen there. There's nothing better than seeing it live! I had an event Friday night that lasted forever...sorry to miss M's 1/2 b-day but it didn't finish until late and it was a command performance! (Hate those!)

I might be looking at an apartment tomorrow night. (Had a scary experience today with a fake Realtor from Craig's List that I'm still shaken up about..everyone be warned about a $950 apartment in WHeights, it sounded too good and it was and so was the Realtor) so I think I may go through the new agency I found. The rent is over $1200 but the location is good and I've been in the area previously in my continued travels throughout the city borders. I think it's best to have my own place. Good for everyone involved and I have my fingers crossed for all of us! The only problem is the money thing! All the money situations recently causes concern for a big move and all that money down front. I'm going to keep positive about the whole thing. L. props to you for saying what we were all thinking. I knew it took a lot of courage!

Also, everyone keep the places coming to my email or at livejournal if you hear of any openings. Thanks!

So all in all, life is very interesting right now, some good, some bad and some just down right confusing!

Jess, send me an email and we have to get together while you're in town. Hope work life is getting better!

    Take care all!

    Stroke
Well I got some devastating news this afternoon. My dad left a message for me to call him and I found out my grandma had a stroke. As some of you remember, she stopped taking her medicine but she was doing so well despite it. She's so important to me, and I hate just sitting here waiting. My parents don't want me to come home yet, because of my job but I'm going stir crazy. I might go anyways.

Luckily my mom called her mother last night and thought she wasn't making alot of sense. So, she went over to see her. She rushed her to the hospital and it was confirmed that she had a stroke and was bleeding from the brain. They had to do emergency surgery. They still don't know anything and I don't know what I'll do if I lose her.

She's been my rock for so many years that I don't know what to do if dies. I might not be on for sometime but wanted to keep you updated. Please think of her in your prayers!!

Getting hit by a truck..day off?
So I wasn't seriously hurt but the following happened on the way home from the play. I said goodbye to Ellin and I went and picked up my chai and started to walk to West 4th. Now after a big dinner, drinks and sitting awhile, I needed to walk. So chai in hand, I set out. I was on sixth avenue and crossing in the mid 30's, and I saw a truck heading up sixth avenue. Now I'm on the cross streets, so it appeared even though he was off in the distance, that he was going street. Well I had the right of way and started across. All of a sudden Mr. Garbage Truck started speeding and did a quick U right into my path. I literally had to dive into a curb to save myself. I proceeded to wake my still healing knee into the curb, cut up arms and spill my chai all over myself. Plus stuff from my purse went flying! Now, I'll never say anything bad about fellow New Yorkers. Three rushed over to me and helped me up and I woman told me if I wanted to call the cops she would stay as she saw what happened. Another took out some handi-wipes and bathed my hands and the guy helped me up and said someone is watching over you that you were't seriously hurt..I agree!

So I'm in a lot of pain but nothing appears broken.I called work and left a message that I might be a little late but if I wake up in pain, I'm taking it off. What a day!!!

    Marcia Cross
Ok, I knew there was something good about my caffeine addiction but I didn't know until today. So, I was heading into my local Starbucks and the workers were looking shell-shocked. Then I see this woman coming toward me and she looked very familiar. Now all you Desperate Housewives' fans would have loved this, it was Marcia Cross. She looked even more beautiful in person. I was talking to the workers and they said she's such a sweetheart.

YEA, that was a bigger pick me up than the chai!

A quick note...Still Reeling from the trip!
Oh my gosh, the trip was amazing and now I'm dying to go on another. So many pictures, I'll upload later, but this week has been so hectic. Not only am I still trying to get over jet leg, but I've been seeing shows up the ying-yang. I can't pass up free tickets and I was offered three shows this week!!!! So off to Barefoot in the Park tonight and tomorrow Hot Feet.

I haven't posted in forever but I'll start again as soon as I start having a quiet moment! (Hopefully soon)

I am so excited about Wednesday; I can't believe it's almost here. Although I've been having dreams that I leave my passport and money at home. My tax return came,so thank goodness, I have money for the trip.

The last few weeks have been crazy, from shows, to getting ready for the trip and work. Tomorrow, a group of us are going backstage of Phantom of the Opera thanks to Russ!

Today, off to another show and learning how to use my new toy, my digital camera.

What do the following have in common----they lead up to a fun 28th b-day
After work it was time to party and the combination of good friends, good food and good drink made tonight alot of fun. And S, after last night, the free drinks, I was already feeling it this morning.

After champagne and dinner it was off to the show. Thanks to PB we were able to get in really cheap. The musical was great and because of work, I was given a name to tell at the stage door. When we got back there he already left but we went out the stage door. Oh my gosh, people came running up to us. And because of the night we were decked out our finery. I was asked for my autograph. I have to admit I started laughing and walked away but felt bad when I saw the look on the guy's face. I went back and told him I wasn't with the cast. I have to admit, I loved the feeling, and I hope that happens some day when I "eventually" get my first book published.

Then what b-day is complete without the cake and icecream. We combined the two by going to Coldstone. Oh my god, the calories, but what a way to go. It simply is heaven in a bite. Home to another late night and it will continue this weekend. Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday so it will be a little more relaxing as it will be the weekend. Thanks again to work who surprised me with a dozen long stemmed roses, my absolute favorite. It's corny but they always have been my favorite flower.

    Off to sleep. Goodnight!
